Coordinated by the Ecole Française d’Athènes, the ANCHISE consortium is a strong partnership of European leading companies, universities and research centres with strong connections to the fields of investigation, cultural organizations and law enforcement agencies, coordinated around the same cause of the fight against illicit trafficking of cultural heritage.

 

Through previous European projects, the partners have strong connections that pave the way for efficient and fruitful collaboration.

Ecole Française d'Athènes (EFA) - Coordinator - GREECE

The Ecole Française d'Athènes (EFA) is the first foreign institute established in Greece. Founded in 1846, it is a centre of advanced research in humanities whose core mandate is the study of Greece in its Balkan and Mediterranean contexts, from prehistoric times to the present. This mission encompasses the training of a new generation of academics, facilitating early-career researchers’ access to the field and the sources. It supports their integration within a high-level international environment.

The EFA ensures the general coordination of ANCHISE.

ICONEM - FRANCE

Founded in 2013, Iconem is an innovative startup that specialises in the digitisation of endangered cultural heritage sites in 3D. ICONEM works with international organisations, national governments, local authorities, and world-class museums such as UNESCO, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, the Sultanate of Oman, the City of Paris, and the Louvre. We design site-specific architectural 3D models; large-scale urban and rural 3D models; museum exhibitions; and training for local professionals.

ICONEM will contribute to the development of the ANCHISE toolkit as well as other activities.

Institute of Communication and Computer Systems - GREECE

The Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) is a non-profit Academic Research Body established in 1989 by the Greek Ministry of Education. In FP7 ICCS ranked in the 19th position with respect to funding among all European research establishments, companies and universities. Together with NTUA (its academic branch), it ranked in the 12th position. The aim of ICCS is to carry research and development activities in the fields of all diverse aspects of telecommunications and computer systems, as well as their application in a variety of areas. The personnel of ICCS include more than 500 research associate scientists.

ICCS  will contribute to the development of the ANCHISE toolkit as well as other activities.

Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Police - FRANCE

The École Nationale Supérieure de la Police – ENSP (French National School for the Police) is under the authority of the General Director of the French police and, thus, under the authority of the Ministry of the Interior. The Academy is mainly in charge of the professional management and leadership training of senior police officers (12,000) and top police managers. It is also involved in international training cooperation (CEPOL/FRONTEX/INTERPOL), partnership-based training (for elected representatives, and corporate heads of security …), and in police research and science. To ensure the excellence of its research missions, the ENSP has implemented a Research Laboratory.

ENSP will contribute to the development of the ANCHISE toolkit, to pilot implementation as well as other activities.

Michael Culture Association - BELGIUM

Michael Culture Association (MCA) is a not-for-profit organisation AISBL created in 2007. It is the only European trans-sectorial network for Cultural Heritage. Devoted to European cultural heritage valorization, MCA gathers members and experts from cultural institutions private and public - museums, libraries, archives, and research centres - ministries of Culture, from the EU and beyond, of which many represent cultural operators at the national level. It aims at promoting and valorizing European cultural heritage through advocacy, digitization, and dissemination to a European and worldwide audience and enhancing the network of European professionals working on digital cultural heritage.

MCA leads communication and dissemination activities and contributes to pilot implementations.

CNRS - FRANCE

Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) is a government-funded research organization under the administrative authority of the French Ministry for Research. It is one of the most important research organizations in Europe, involved in all fields of knowledge generation. Interdisciplinary programs and actions offer a gateway into new domains of scientific research and enable the CNRS to address the needs of both society and the industry. The CNRS has over 1,100 research units, spread throughout France, that are either independent or in partnership with universities, other research organizations or with the industry.

CNRS will contribute to pilot implementations.

International Council of Museums - FRANCE

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) is a membership association and a non-governmental organisation that establishes professional and ethical standards for museum activities. As forum of experts, it makes recommendations on issues related to cultural heritage, promotes capacity building and advances knowledge. ICOM is the voice of museum professionals on the international stage and raises public cultural awareness through global networks and cooperation programs. 

ICOM will contribute to pilot implementations and other activities.

INOV Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores Inovação - PORTUGAL

INOV – Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores Inovação is one of the largest national technological infrastructures in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Electronics in Portugal. It is a private institute that fosters relations between Higher Education Institutions and society and the economy, with a view to increasing their competitiveness. INOV is composed of a multidisciplinary team, including specialised administrative and technical personnel, highly qualified in project management, researchers, scholars, and interns. 

INOV will contribute to the development of the ANCHISE toolkit as well as other activities.

Protection Avancée contre le Recel (PARCS) - FRANCE

Protection Avancée contre le Recel (PARCS) is supported by Cercle K2, a multidisciplinary working group, section Art and Heritage (circle of reflection with actions intended for the public). PARCS offers integrated solutions which supplied services under different forms (prevention, recording, insurance and police declarations, research, restitution, analyses) around an Internet application and databases. It can be compatible with the various intervening players. The application allows a fight at the international level against

PARCS will lead to the development of the ANCHISE toolkit and take part ass well to other activities.

FRAUNHOFER Fraunhofer Gesellschaft zur Forderung der Angewandten Forschung E. V. - GERMANY

Fraunhofer is a leading organisation of institutes of applied research in Germany, undertaking contract research on behalf of industry, the service sector and the government. Fraunhofer is actively involved in industrial consortia seeking technical solutions to improve the competitiveness of European industry. At present, the organisation maintains 66 research institutes with some 24,000 employees at locations throughout Germany.

Fraunhofer will contribute to the development of the ANCHISE toolkit as well as other activities.

European University Institute - ITALY

The European University Institute (EUI), is the leading institute in Europe dedicated to social sciences and humanities. Founded in 1972 by the six original members of the then European Communities, the EUI has earned a reputation as a transnational hub of research and higher learning. EUI contributes to the cultural and scientific development of Europe, through teaching at the highest university level, interdisciplinary research on salient societal challenges and robust intellectual discourse and debate.

EUI will contribute to pilot implementations as well as other activities.

Université Lumière Lyon 2 - FRANCE

Since its creation in 1973, the Université Lumière Lyon 2 (ULL2) has been committed to a strong and demanding vision of higher education and research, driven by a spirit and values that are also its trademark: human and humanistic, committed and supportive, democratic and civic. A founding member of the Comue, Université Lumière Lyon 2 welcomes nearly 30,000 students on two campuses, from undergraduate to doctoral level.

ULL2 will lead pilot implementations and contribute to other activities.

The Cyprus Institute - CYRPUS

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a world-class, non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation. It is a regional Center of Excellence, addressing issues of regional interest but of global significance, with an emphasis on cross-disciplinary research and international collaborations. CyI is being developed as an international science and technology organization to strengthen the research community of Cyprus and to help transform its economy to a knowledge-based economy. 

Cyl will lead technology watch, evaluation and adoption and contribute to other activities.

Université de Poitiers - FRANCE

The University of Poitiers is a French university located in Poitiers, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It is multidisciplinary and contributes to making Poitiers the city with the highest student/inhabitant ratio in France by hosting nearly 28,000 students in 2017. Within the university, the HeRMA Laboratory - Hellenisation and Romanisation in the Ancient World - is organised around themes centred on identity in the Mediterranean area and carries out research on broader subjects such as the violation of heritage and the fight against the trafficking of cultural goods.

Université de Poitiers will contribute to pilot implementations as well as other activities.

CUT

Cyprus University of Technology - CYPRUS

Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), was established by law in 2004, and enrolled its first students in 2007. With its orientation towards applied research, the University aspires to establish for itself a role in support of the state and society in their efforts to confront problems, which cover all areas of science and technology. CUT involvement in research has been recognized from the fact that within the last four years, projects with more than 30M Euro have been funded.

CUT will contribute to communication and dissemination activities.
